Unlike conventional structures,
a specific analysis approach is required for Suspension
Bridges, which are composed of flexible cables. Suspension
Bridge Wizard in MIDAS/Civil automatically
calculates the cable coordinates and tensions of the completed
structure. Also, using 3D Elastic suspension line element
and Equivalent truss element can consider non-linear characteristics
of the cables. It supports Geometric
non-linear analysis as well as Construction
stage analysis.

Finite Deformation Analysis)
- Moving Load analysis (Influence Line/Surface analysis)
- The program supports real time Display of Construction

Suspension Bridge
Wizard
|
- All coordinates of a suspension bridge including
the main cables are automatically determined upon
entering the design conditions such as the sag, girder
weights, etc.
- Tension forces in the main and hanger cables at
the state of the completed structure are automatically
calculated.
- Geometric stiffness is automatically formulated
by transforming the calculated tensions in the main
cables and hangers into Initial
Force for Geometric Stiffness.
- Analyses for the completed structure as well as
the structures during construction stages are carried
out after determining the initial equilibrium state
by simply applying Suspension
Bridge Wizard.

MIDAS/Civil supports Geometric non-linear analysis (Large
displacement analysis) and Construction
stage analysis.
Accordingly, the element forces and deformed shape of
a particular stage are reflected in the subsequent stage
for accurate analysis.
